Art Students attend Ceramic workshop with Jeff Shapiro
Art majors attended a 2-day workshop at Funke Fired Arts in Cincinnati with New York Ceramic Artist, Jeff Shapiro. Shapiro addressed the audience and created an installation piece Friday night, in conjunction with the opening reception of his exhibition with renowned artist, Don Reitz. On Saturday, he demonstrated the throwing of traditional Raku teabowls in the morning, and large slab construction in the afternoon. After spending years apprenticing in ancient Japanese pottery villages, Shapiro portrayed the much revered "tea aesthetic", even making authentic tea (matcha) for the participants.
